Playing

How do I play?

Drag to aim, tap to drop. Two balls with the same number merge into one worth double. Make a 23,552 to win; let the pile settle above the line and the run ends. How to play on your profile shows every card again.

Can I pause?

Tap the pause button at the top left. The game also pauses by itself when you leave it. From Paused, Save & quit to main menu keeps the run so you can pick it up later with Continue on the menu — even after closing the app — or you can quit without saving.

Winning seems hard.

It is meant to be — but it is reachable. Keep big balls next to each other, drop small ones where they can find a partner, and use Pop on a small ball buried under big ones.

What do the green and golden balls do?

Some balls come sticky (green) or buttery (golden, slippery). The first time you meet one, a card explains it.

Your account and your runs

Do I need an account?

No. You can play, keep every run, and appear on the global leaderboard without signing in.

How do I keep my runs when I change phones?

Open your profile and Continue with Apple or Continue with Google. Your nickname, best score and full run history then follow you: sign in with the same account on the new phone. If both phones already have runs, they are combined — nothing is lost — and the account keeps its nickname and tag. Your friends come along too.

It says "Your account was combined".

On another phone, the sign-in you used here was added to a different Merge 23 player, so the two were combined into that one. Sign in again with the button shown and this phone becomes that player, with the runs it still had added. Or choose Continue as a guest to start fresh.

What does Sign out do?

Your account stays as it is — runs, friends, leaderboard entry — and comes back when you sign in again, on any phone. The phone itself starts over as a new guest. Runs not yet saved to your account are uploaded first; if you're offline, the game asks before signing out.

How do I add friends?

Profile → Friends. Share your friend code with Invite a friend, or type a friend's code under Add friend; they accept the request on their profile. Get a new code stops the old one working.

How do I leave the global leaderboard?

Turn off Show me on the global board on your profile. Your entry is removed and no scores are sent until you turn it back on.

How do I change my nickname?

Tap the pencil next to your name on the profile. Nicknames are 3–16 letters, digits or spaces.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Delete account. It permanently removes your account and everything in it — leaderboard entry, synced runs, settings, friends and your sign-in for Merge 23 — and the copy on this phone, which starts over as a new guest. If you never signed in and want your data removed, email us your nickname and tag.

Ads

Why are there ads?

They keep the game free. There is a banner below the play area and, now and then, a full-screen ad when you leave the game-over screen — never while you play, not in your first few games, and only a few times a day. Short videos are optional: a power-up (Pop, Clear the top three, No gravity, Cosmic Order) or Sparks after a game — a video only plays when you press its button. Remove ads in the Store turns off the banner and the full-screen ads (see Purchases below).

How do I change my ad privacy choice?

Profile → Ad privacy (shown where the choice applies, such as the EEA, the UK and Switzerland). On iOS, tracking is controlled in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Details in the privacy policy.

I pressed a power-up and no ad played.

When no ad is available — no connection, or none to show right then — you get the power-up anyway. Nothing is lost, and the next one will usually have an ad again.

Purchases

What can I buy?

In the Store (Profile → Store, or tap your Sparks): Remove ads, a one-time purchase that turns off the banner and the full-screen ads for good, and Sparks packs, which add Sparks to your balance to pay for power-ups instead of watching a video. Videos stay optional either way. Payment goes through the App Store (or Google Play on Android); we never see your card details.

How do I restore Remove ads on a new phone?

Store → Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple ID (or Google account on Android) you bought it with. Sparks packs are used up as you spend them, so they can't be restored — but your Sparks balance is kept with your game account: sign in to have it on every phone.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store, not by us: on iOS at reportaproblem.apple.com, on Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history. If a purchase is refunded, what it gave you is taken back — the pack's Sparks (never below zero) or Remove ads.

I bought something and it didn't arrive.

Keep the app open with a connection for a minute — the purchase is checked by our server before it is delivered, and a pending one arrives as soon as it is approved. If it still hasn't, email us the date and what you bought.

Multiplayer and messages

How do I play against someone?

Menu → Multiplayer: Quick match pairs you with a random player, or pick a friend to invite. If no one is free, you play against a recorded run. Both of you get the same balls for five minutes; the largest ball wins and the score breaks ties.

Someone is rude or has an offensive name.

Tap their name → Report or block. A blocked player can't invite you, message you or ask to be friends, and Quick match never pairs you. Undo it in Profile → Blocked players. We look at every report.

Something is wrong

The global leaderboard says it isn't connected.

The leaderboard needs the internet; the game itself doesn't. Your runs are kept on your phone and your best score goes up when you're back online.

I found a bug.

Email privacy@merge23.com with what happened just before, your phone model and its iOS or Android version. A screenshot helps.

The rules

Sparks, purchases and refunds, names and messages, fair play: the terms of use say how they work.
